2018/2019 Subscription Season
As we continue to celebrate our 30th Anniversary season with exciting July Summerfest concerts throughout South Florida, the Symphony is excited to offer an all new 2018-19 schedule of concerts!
We invite you to join us for musical experiences to stimulate your senses, including an opening concert in honor of October as Hispanic and Italian Heritage Month. Uruguayan duo pianists Enrique Graf and Ciro Fodere perform an eclectic evening of music including the Concerto No. 2 of Florencia di Concillio, contemporary Uruguayan born composer, and established figure in film scores with premieres in Cannes 2017.
The holidays are ushered in with music and movies, including Grinch Who Stole Christmas and Polar Express and more…… all coordinated with on-screen movie clips.
January’s “Magico” Visual Concerto features symphonic photo-choreography of the world’s great architectural and geographical wonders, to familiar classics on the big screen - a concept premiered by over 180 orchestras worldwide, and now brought to South Florida by noted photographer and acclaimed multi-media artist, Nicholas Bardonnay.
DUAIV, acclaimed for his work as a visual artist around the globe, has been commissioned for another first with the Symphony…. He will paint an original work, positioned on the stage during the concert adjacent to the musicians, with simultaneous inspiration from the impressionistic music filling the hall…. all of which will be projected on the screen above the orchestra. He will donate the work to the Symphony for auction at the concert evening’s Post Concert Reception. Joining him on the stage will be Dimitri Ashkenazy of the legendary musical family, performing a concerto for clarinet.
Don’t miss the mysteries of “A Musical Bond” with the music of the James Bond piano concerto and Phantom Phantasy in the Andrew Lloyd Webber Concerto at the hands of pianist Thomas Pandolfi! And to complete the season, Longtime Concertmaster of the MY Philharmonic, Glenn Dicterow and his wife Karen will perform a new work for violin and viola to complete the season in April. Karen’s performances range from classical with Yehudi Menuhin to the jazz great, Chick Corea.
Remember to check out our acclaimed Serenades@Sunset Series at the Pier 66 Pier Top on Sunday evenings, with everything from ensembles such as the acclaimed Amernet String Quartet, to great jazz in April’s “Jazz it Up”. Enjoy the Sunset with wine and hors-d'oeuvres surrounding these world-class musical ensembles.
Each Season the Symphony continues to take an inventive approach of combining classical music with other art forms to engage and delight audiences….. JOIN US!
